As someone who has had the joy (no, that is not the right word for it) of transcribing my interviews with astronauts and space workers, I can definitely second the idea of doing it in five minute chunks of audio. Anything longer than 15 minutes of audio at a time – with all the stops and starts it entails – will make you reconsider how you reached this point in your life.
As for accuracy, the goal is more for readability than to transcribe verbatim. For reference, check at the bit at 09:04 to see what I’ve been cutting out: the "um"s, "you know"s, and other verbal crutches.
I’m also occasionally injecting punctuation to combat our (mostly my) tendency to speak in run-on sentences. Some of it sounds ok to listen to but reads pretty badly, so forcing breakpoints helps a bit where we can preserve the original meaning.
I definitely have a new appreciation for transcription work!
I went back in and cleaned up the parts I did. I’ll probably jump back in tonight and do some more when the kiddos are asleep and I take a break from working.

you can see where the drop off is for MTG_Dad’s family that they just bottom out a little bit there as 50 grows and that were then planet cows.
I’ll be able to tackle a lot more coming up. I have a fast-approaching deadline and some more stuff to do. My grandfather is currently in the hospital so, dealing with that stuff at the moment. Once that stuff is over with I will be able to jump in and do more, more frequently. I didn’t know this automated thing existed. It makes it so much easier to do than how I usually have to. Makes it fun too and I get to catch up on past episodes since I only just started. I’m hoping the information will sink in so I’m not so noob.
