Find some sort of consensus for what should be acceptable play - and have the game inforce it.
I agree with many people that “UA is here to stay” will kill off the game without (at least) those changes - I look forward to embracing that next round.
Hell just taking away the ability to hide will kill off half of them right away.
well than ur wrong my friend, i would gladly play without a theme or “hiding” but with UA it dosent matter hide or no hide, gameplay is not good atm. also i dont know why ur so stuck on the hiding, my fam’s player base have been completly transperant from week 1 this round…
I have known Donald since he was a child and your shit is so zipped up that his fucking father died - and I didn’t know about it for so long it felt fucking weird to send him a text offering condolences.
The hiding was that fucking bad.
PA finlay told me who Donald was about a week ago.
Yeah, it is terrible for the game - and if it is gone, a shit ton of players will not even play.
They depend on it.
What the hell is this to do with UA’s Darrk? Why do you talk so much utter b******s off subject?
And yea UA is going to be aroun now so everyone need to get used to it. Wether its player policed or not I hope it doesnt just keep turning into two big teams fighting each round. That will get boring, especially when the other team is no match atm
I haven’t announced it yet, but that is coming. Stay tuned.
For most (but not all) of IC’s history, players have been able to hide behind round-specific names with no linkage to their master account. This lets players play anonymously, and as we all know, when people are anonymous they are empowered to act without responsibility to their reputation.
We have a thread about Playing undercover if you’re more interested in the arguments for and against it.
It’s one of many things that we need to address to fix what is at its core a communication problem. Another big one is revamping the ingame message feature so that it can make use of the same flagging/moderation tools that we have here in the forum.
If you think the forum is bad, my god the stuff that people send each other in game is horrendous.
But then, there’s also the way people talk to each other here in the forums, including in this thread here. Some players dislike each other to the extent that any public exchange devolves into personal attacks that dance the line between trash talk and harassment, and is a pain in my ass to balance moderation against censorship.
In short: players need to stop being assholes to each other. The game needs to do its part to help by offering:
Better communication mechanisms
More balanced gameplay that makes losing less frustrating
Sounds like a lot of players (Joe Schmoe) feel like other players should hold themselves to their (Joe’s) code of moral conduct and get their feelings hurt when said players don’t. All’s fair in love and war though.
It has everything to do with it!
All of this is tied together.
UA, Hiding, Honor - it is all part of the fabric of the game, it is all integrated to the experience.
In my humble opinion the title of this thread “MW 68 and UA” has forced many issues to the surface.
Something like me not knowing ICD’s dad passed away because of player hiding is quite relevant.
It is simply an example.
so since ICD is Andromeda ingame u didnt know his dad passed away? hmm… why would you need to know who he is ingame to know shit about his RL ? he is still ICD in chat…
with this strange logic i guess it is fair to say since you know who i am ingame, i guess you know what i will have for dinner today ?
People choosing to play hidden has been around since forever. I personally never do but I do see why some people do. and to reinterate…This has NOTHING to do with UA. It’s ICD’s choice to play under a pseudonym and if you wanted to message him use chat.
No im always just Duke or Dukey, or Dukeh from Moolah days lol
Ill give you full low down of Galactic failures
Dukey =Triangulum
Orbit = Pinwheel
Draco = AW
Virgo = Remo (aptly named)
ICD = Andro
SunTzu = MilkyWay
People will always hide and UA or not this will always be the case. If Pie somehow invents a way for people not to hide im sure people will just create new accounts or amend main name with new names or something to combat that.
Anyway back on topic. I am worries that UA is going to make next round only have around 50 players. I know of 6 or 7 people who are giving next round a miss and im sure there is more
Hopefully some form of player policing comes into effect that AW tried to establish early round.
