A lot of bigger features are stuck behind this. The summary is that the backend is reaching the point again where new features are prohibitively challenging to write.
We hit this once already before the failed second alpha, but this time we’re going to take a more realistic approach and start porting functionality in pieces to a new backend.
This won’t be a new version of the game in any fashion, but rather a means for us to upgrade the work I’ve already been doing to be even more modern.
This won’t be a quick process, but the gains will be more than worth it.
