Launch the API Server

A lot of bigger features are stuck behind this. The summary is that the backend is reaching the point again where new features are prohibitively challenging to write.

We hit this once already before the failed second alpha, but this time we’re going to take a more realistic approach and start porting functionality in pieces to a new backend.

This won’t be a new version of the game in any fashion, but rather a means for us to upgrade the work I’ve already been doing to be even more modern.

This won’t be a quick process, but the gains will be more than worth it.

Show me your API server and I’ll build you a native app

I’m feeling motivated after my break. I’m diving back in, hoping to have something to show for it soon enough.

It’s finally up. Took way longer than it should have, but we finally have it launched with a starting endpoint:

https://dev-api.imperialconflict.com/empires

This is not using production data, and will eventually be require api keys. More details coming shortly.

Our API is on production! The homepage is using it now, and other pages will soon be following it.

Documentation will be coming shortly.
