My memory after so many rounds of IC across two decades may be fuzzy about a great many details, but at one point wasn’t it possible to change the name of each planet that you owned? Was that a VIP only option, or just a short lived feature abandoned eons ago?
That was something the game supported years ago, and it was a VIP only option.
I remember systems that were named after players, I don’t remember planets being renamed. But such a long time ago now and I only had a VIP for 1 or 2 rounds before I stopped playing.
You could change planet names. It made it easy to track what planets were for. Ressies and attackers liked that a lot
They still are! =)
I made it a point to own zeh “I like pie” system last round.
A couple of years ago I started with my home planet in The Gwynedd System.
I made sure to let him know that it was going to be a good round if I’m guaranteed to be inside of him during the whole thing.
Maybe naming systems or planets could be a Patreon or Reputation Honor Roll benefit?
That’d be nice. Maybe let Patreon subs rename x planets per galaxy based on their donation level.
To avoid p2w effects, we should also implement something like Notes column on planet page so that all players can have access to some kind of planet management mechanism, as @HydroP describes.
Speaking of Planets and Systems. How hard would it be to post a text file with all the names that IC uses for naming Systems?
Also, does the system randomly pull names from the list each round, or what?
Some of us (ok, maybe just me) just wanted to name the planets after ourselves as a warning and a notice that we would be back for the planet if someone so dared to conquer it (temporarily).
