Shareable Races

We should allow races to be shareable. The first race of a particular feature set would be the original race, and others would be derivatives of it. This would allow us to learn what makeups are most used, accounting for races that only differ by name.

The benefits:

  1. Once newbies are bored of standard races, they could browse existing creations instead of making suboptimal customs.

  2. You could recommended a pre-built race as part of your drafting process.

  3. You could recommended a pre-built race even if not drafting, just to invite people to join your galaxy.

  4. In grouping by makeup, we could get stats on race usage which would inform players on races worth trying.

    • popularity: which makeups get most used
    • performance: which makeups rank highest at EoR
  5. Retired players could play a strategic meta-game, letting others act as vehicles for their experiments.

2 posts were split to a new topic: Remove point cap on custom races

  1. Are we considering changing custom race point allocations?
  2. If not, is the implication that we are going to somehow label the handful of custom race archetypes, and then then leave it up as data, or somehow integrate that as choice options?

I mean most people will say that cf banker, -inc attacker (and it’s zillion permutations), and some sort of custom opper are about the only ones. There are surely more, but you start getting into some pretty family/player specific stuff.
