New Format for Virgo

I have been helping out in Virgo for a couple of weeks now, as it sits all that currently happens is they explore, infra a little and graduate, which raises lots of questions for the nooblets, so i’ have done up a proposal to make it a bit more complete to at least give them a basic understanding of all aspects of the game, below is my idea, I would appreciate feedback and follow up ideas or additions.
I have spoken to pie about this and i’m hoping we can get it implemented asap, it should need minimal work to make it happen.

2 fams

2? tutors per fam (just to make attackable planets more readily available

always have war declare on so newbies can see it on home screen.

get immersive
"Our family is at war with these douchenozzles, but you recruits need to be trained, first explore 10(?) planets so we can prepare you for war.

once 10(?) planets have been explore open up the attacking goals.

“Good job Emperor Dingleberry!, now it is time to take the fight to the douchenozzles, Explore the map(link map) to gain position on these scoundrels, when you are ready you can assemble your fleet(link military page)”

maybe have links to somewhere guide-ish explaining units, if we dont have anything solid i’m sure we can employ someone on a free basis to put something together, or i can.

you can gain Intel on these scoundrels through means of your Agent or Wizard operations (link

players must gain 20(?) planets to graduate Virgo, 5(?) of which must be taken by force from the douchenozzles

Tutors responsibility to make these goals always be possible.

  1. have good spread around opposing fam to allow noobs to have planets to take if there arent enough active players in each fam
  2. dont build stupid amounts of defence, we could set a cap for tutors (not an ingame function, just don’t be a dick verbal number pinned in tutors chat) based on what most players would be able to afford by the time they are up to attacking.
  3. build different amounts of lasers on planets for teaching purposes (maybe even 1 laser trap :o)

Peace Out Douchenozzles!!

Sounds much better.

IMO from someone who used to play the game years ago and has now recently returned; I am very rusty and I am relying on my old knowledge to remember tips and tricks.

e.g. wizzies need 10% of your nw to work on self spells, dont build lasers on your HP, always stockpile explos, what is the correct CF/TO ratio - etc etc. Stuff like those that aren’t really necessarily essential to playing the game but important to playing the game well and knowing what you’re doing.

I think it’s important to teach some of this stuff because as it stands there seems to be an underlying presumption that everyone knows this stuff… perhaps because there isn’t such a huge influx of new players as regularly as there used to be (?) so the complexity of all of this may cause newer players to churn at a higher rate as the returning older players/existing long term players?

You are definitely right there, large assumptions are made throughout that everyone knows what’s going on. Fortunately things are being done to remedy that, and suggestions like this certainly help highlight the stuff that’s needed.

@Funeral I dig it, so, more ideas :hugs:

We could possibly look at doing more along the lines of the information tour icon on the hq page, I guess that long term this could incorporate the wiki into the main game itself.

So pretty much have an information icon next to basically everything, whether for the entire game or just Virgo.

Going into things like the 10% wiz for SA and correct building ratios is hard because it is subjective, so I guess there is a balance in the explanations, enough info without having to show them a spreadsheet to explain stuff :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

@I_like_pie !! Would love to hear your input

Oh yeah I agree with that, I also guess you need a balance with giving people information to play the game well but without giving away the secrets that make the best players.

I remember that in the old forums, there were loads of guides that players themselves had written about “the best start startegy”, “the best SS strategy” “ultimate CF/TO banking guide” - stuff like that… could be formalised or if there are players willing to do this it might be worth having those resurfacing but available as links in-game?

Virgo does not train people on how to actually play it would be better to immerse them in a less hardcore galaxy like pinwheel with out drafting, would also solve the problem of old vets without the time to be active who can help train them
