Laser bug

@MTG_Dad was taking and I believe this is actually a bug.

When attacking a planet, if you send 990 bombers vs 100 lasers and lose, the planet is likely to have 1 laser left.

Why is it attacking the same planet with 1200 bombers leaves 100 lasers? Shouldn’t the 100 lasers automatically be destroyed?

There is a random factor built into it.
So yeah when you send 10 bombers against 1 laser you deffy can fail.

It has always been that way.
Not a bug.

Nice try with the “hundreds and thousands”. :joy:

To get infra, player needs to be 70% or higher of your NW, same when passing infra in family.

But if player is atleast 70% your NW, and u fail to take the planet, then u will kill lasers.

You could even take this one step further.

Scenario 1:

Attack on an empire within the 70% NW Range:
You sent 5000 bombers to an unportalled planet, with 50 lasers and no fleet stationed.
You will kill all the lasers, the defender will have no lasers left, but you won’t take the planet.
Defender will have to rebuild lasers.

Scenario 2:

Attack on an empire within the 70% NW Range:
You sent 5000 bombers, 1 transporter and 2 soldiers to an unportalled planet, with 50 lasers and no fleet stationed.
You take the planet, and find it having 50 lasers on it (even though the battle report says you killed them )

I think this has been the case forever, hence maybe not seen as a bug, but it is certainly a game design flaw

Phase 1: Ground against air
In this Phase the incoming bombers fight against the defending Lasers. First, the bombers drop their load on the Lasers on the planet. Each Bomber has a 10% chance to destroy a Laser. Then the Lasers fire back at the attacking fleet. First they fire at the incoming transports and if all of them are shot down, they can also shoot at the bombers. Each Laser can shoot 10 units. Both sides can loose all of their Lasers or transports and bombers. Fighters don’t fight in this phase.

I love this game. :rainbow:

Thats a fun quote Darrk. Also points out that lasers are bugged.

The bombers can miss TBO.
Not sure what you are seeing here.

Oh I see what you are saying.
You would really need to test that.
PI’s and such.

If all of the lasers got destroyed, why would they reappear for the new owner?

If they didn’t get shot down they should attack your transports.

Laser attack is before 70% rule which means the lasers shouldn’t stay regardless.

It’s science fiction, a unique anomaly to the IC Universe.

@TheBigOne

Pop into a custom gala and test a bit.
I think you will see a pattern emerge.

It is not a bug. Basically it is a built-in feature that gives an attacker a ‘bonus’ to help hold a recently conquered planet, as opposed to the planet remaining laser-free until new ones can be constructed. Throws a little wrench into the calculations for what is needed to retake a planet.

Chaos = fun.

Except it’s not a built in feature :yum:

Not necessarily a loss. That one laser left can hit max 10 trannies. So sending overkill trannies could still make this a win where you get to keep 990 lasers, while battle report says they are destroyed.

Same story as above. Sent over 1000 trannies and you will have ground left reaching the surface. Burning 100k ground not always a good idea though :joy:

A better question is wtf do they shoot down fam members?
Also, when I send 2 troops and 1 transport to a fam members planet and the one guy that survives massacres the population lol?

Well the second soldier might partake in half the genocide before he dies of stress! That first soldier is totally a monster though.
