Is there information about Standard Race changes over time?

The standard races have changed over the years. But the question is can anyone dig up the original stats for each race, as well as the when, what and why changes were made to each over the past two decades?

The Wardancer’s Attack Bonus is definitely higher now. And if I remember correctly, Quantum used to have an Attack Bonus but no longer does.

I’d be curious to read those historical stats if they exist.

[A Warcry is heard! (Wardancers Update)

by Genesis 01-Jan-2012:

On the outskirts of the galaxy, Wardancer leaders from across the Universe gathered for a reunion of vital importance. As their race withered down, they realized changes had to be made for their survival to be assured.
Unsure about the best direction to take, they were aware time is of the essence, and the future uncertain. Still, their ancient warrior spirit remains untamed, as the leaders performed their newest ritual to boost their armies’ moral. To war!

The Wardancers race has been put through some changes. We have tried to make it more appealing for the average player, by upgrading some specifics to make it more playable and effective.

We hope you enjoy!

Previous race stats:

  • Income: 20%
    Research: 40%

Additionaly, the Wardancers have been granted a unique spell: Warcry.

Warcry, when cast, will grant the player an automatic boost of 20% morale. Example, if you have 50% morale before casting, you will have 70% afterwards.

While it may be of extreme usefulness, there is also a downside to this spell: you cannot cast it again for 6 ticks, and when the effect wears off, your morale will experience a reduction of 18%, which will bring your morale to a negative if it is low enough by the time the effect wears off.

This spell, like No Fear, will not stack its effect, and cannot be cast again while its running time doesn’t expire.

Also regarding morale, if you cast Warcry while at 110% morale, you will still get the extra 20%, meaning you will have a max morale of 130%.

Re: A Warcry is heard! (Wardancers Update)

by Elrohir 07-Jan-2012:

Addition to Genesis’ explanation.

If you cast Warcry at 110% morale you will end up with 130% morale. But after each tick your morale gets leveled back to 110%. So use it before the end of the tick else you lose your bonus, but still end up with -18% morale.

Why aren’t you dancing??

We strongly believe that each predefined Race is supposed to do a specific role really well. Wardancers have somewhat been neglected in the past, and hence receiving a bit of loving now! This is largely a trial period, and just to inform you, that from now, we will not be scared to tweak up or down again, as required!

If any tweaking does go on, please bear with us, as this is always a vital component of bringing in changes! smile

Oh, and this is effective immediately!

A new beginning!

by [PW9]~KT~ 08-Jun-2013:

“Emperor Tokaasi, I have some disturbing news to report.” Said First Lieutenant Galdanon
Tokaasi’s eyes narrowed as he sat on the throne of his galaxy cruiser, a space ship amassing the size of a small planet. To his right and left flanked armed guards, all dressed in black and wore the crest of the Tokaasi Empire.

“Speak” Replied Tokaasi.

Lieutenant Galdanon swallowed long and hard as he rose off his knee to address his leader.

“Your greatness, we sent a small expedition team to the Andromeda galaxy as you ordered sir and word just came in that all but one of the ships were seized by pirates. I had the lone transport inspected and the sensors managed to pick up an ion trail from one of the attacking fighters. The pilot died before we could question him sir.”

“Who dares steal from the Tokaasi empire?” Emperor Tokaasi demanded

“Your greatness, we aren’t sure who they are, but communications logs recorded an audio file that detected a single name. Qezian. No other info was obtained. I’m sorry sir.”

Emperor Tokaasi gave his Lieutenant a long piercing look. This would normally result in death but this day Tokaasi spared his soldier.

“Set a course. Nobody challenges the Tokaasi empire and gets away with it.”

The fight between the Qezian and the Tokaasi empire has begun! Players, you can now join the resistance and play as the Qezian SS race in the Supernova galaxy. Keep watching this space for more info!

Partaxian Redesign Competition!

by Torqez 18-Aug-2009:

Partaxian Redesign Competition!

//Background
Based on community feedback and general numbers of people who use the race, we feel that a redesign of the Partaxian race may be in order!

For this reason we have decided to hold a competition while getting valuable feedback from the IC community in actually implementing changes they may like to see!

//The Competition!
Essentially the idea is to put forward a race that you feel is fit to have the title ‘Partaxian’! This race has a long history and has been played in many different styles.

You are to design a race that has a Magic focus and is playable, ie a viable option for people to use. This race must clearly contain strengths as well as obvious weaknesses! In your submission, present the race changes you propose as well as outlining the positives and negatives of your race.

//The Reward!! (The exciting bit!)
For this competition we have deemed fit to provide a unique reward!! For this one time only (not necessarily going to be done again in future) we are rewarding the winner with a unique Forum Tag for 2 months!!

The title of the tag to be awarded will be decided soon!

//Proposal Submissions
The submission of your ideas can be done in two ways. Either you may post your idea here, or you may e-mail it to us at mods.imperialconflict@gmail.com

Feel free to post your thoughts/ideas/races here. Community is your best tool to see what’s needed out there.

//Winner!
It will be difficult to design an ideal race so the winner will most likely be the person who comes up with the closest match to the race that is chosen by the Mods. So I repeat, please remember that the winning race, might not be what is implemented!

If in the event two races are the same, the player with the earlier submission will win. For this reason, be wary of editing your posts as this is the latest time stamp that will be taken into consideration.

//Points to Note

  • Only one entry per player is allowed.
  • The Partaxian race will always remain heavily Magic focused.
  • Try not to create an ‘All Mighty’ Partaxian race. The race must have positives as well as drawbacks. We will never implement a race that has too many strengths. People have a tendency to overpower rather than underpower a race, so please brace yourself for a possibility of a race that isn’t as strong as you expect. We want to make Partaxian viable for use and a great option - but not flood the universe with them! tongue
  • Clearly define the positives and negatives that come with your designed race.
  • Keep in mind these idea (including the best of them may not be implemented and mods will have final judgement on what changes may be introduced.
  • Winner of the competition is solely at the Mods discretion. Do keep in mind that the actual race may differ considerably depending on which way Partaxians will be in the future.

No problem. One of my guys helped build the web archive at the British Library… so I’ll ask him if there’s a way we could get data out programmatically… which might save us all some time!
