Defence bonus bugged?

After seeing some strange battle results in supernova last round Me and Frost decided to test things out. The result surprised both of us and seems buggy.

Me: Wardancer, 80% racebonus, 45% military science, no fear, fleet admiral
Frost: Pax no military bonus

What we did:
Wardancer left 1000 fighs on planet and pax would hit it with various fleet sizes. Before each hit the wardancer brings back defence to 1k fighs.

1500 fighs on pax coming in:
200 fighters lost dogfights against the defending fighters
51 defending fighters were shot down by the attacking air forces

2700 fighs coming in:
200 fighters lost dogfights against the defending fighters
98 defending fighters were shot down by the attacking air forces

5600 fighs coming in from pax:
200 fighters lost dogfights against the defending fighters
211 defending fighters were shot down by the attacking air forces

This last battle is really absurd and implies the ward effectively has a 450% defence bonus.

Our theory is that defence bonus is bugged on races with no attack bonus like pax, quantam and revalon. But without race changes we can’t test this.

Confirmed your numbers, + the kicker: 100,000 pax figs vs 1,000 ward figs:

  • 200 fighters lost dogfights against the defending fighters
  • 300 defending fighters were shot down by the attacking air forces

Also worth noting is that the numbers slightly (very slightly) differ between stationed defenses vs portalled defenses, even if the actual fight is otherwise identical.

As far as I can tell, 0% bonus isn’t the culprit. Camaar vs Ward w the same 100,000 is below:

  • 133 fighters lost dogfights against the defending fighters
  • 300 defending fighters were shot down by the attacking air forces

Something’s definitely broken here. This code is a mess, I’ll need to clean it up a bit to troubleshoot/fix this properly. Will post another update asap.

Max fig loss is 30% though right? So I guess you are looking at the measly 70 fig difference on attacker side

A yeah, that’s right. Good catch. :+1:

Open up the battle formula!

I think I may just have to. This is looking almost as strange as the morale formula.

Not sure if this is technically a “bug”, but things are definitely weird or at least unclear.
