Logged into dev today and I was presented with a confirm email dialog. The bug hunt was pretty much over, but I was just curious to take a final look. Dunno if it’s a bug, but I shouldn’t be getting a confirm email message - I’m already here.
It was just pushed out to Dev. You were indeed supposed to get that message. The message will be on all three servers also.
Yep, that’s awesome, it means our latest changes are working as planned. 
Although, your post here means that it’s not clear enough why we’re requiring email verification on already existing accounts. 
I’ll see about clarifying the language there a bit.
