Can I play IC on my virtual machine?

This question stemmed from here.

We have the answer about VPN/Proxy but since I do not wish to ask how the investigations are now carried out (I respect Pie’s right to withhold admin related information), I would like to know if a virtual machine would be allowed. This is of course very rare for me to be using my VM for trivial things like IC, as I trust pie not to hack into myself and I trust that he is still looking into game-wide security after what happened to the forums so long ago, but it is always nice to know that I can check up on my empire whilst still using my VM.

While not an expert, I do run a server on which I host web sites and mail, and also as someone who uses VMs, I know that the server only sees that you’re using a browser. You should not have any trouble using a browser on a VM to play IC.

I’m a little iffy on this, but I believe I am on a VM atm and have been for years :slight_smile:

Yeah that’s fine, I don’t think we’d even be able to tell if players are coming from within a VM.

Even if we could, I don’t see any issues with it.
