I hope you realise what you are putting on the table⦠If you donāt kill me off it is going to be emberassing for you. If you do this will be emberassing for me.
But let me do a prediction, the game mechanics will not allow you to kill me or me to kill you. Once you are not up against a complete noob the game will turn into a stalemate. Which it will between us if you try to go for it.
So even if you canāt kill me off I wonāt hold it against you its the game mechanics protecting me.
He made the same argument I did lol, so i guess, youāre welcome.
Fwiw, I think your general premise isnāt unreasonable, but the suggestions are pretty extreme. At what point does it even stay IC and not become something entirely new, as @Orion pointed out?
Your critique doesnāt seem to be against the map specifically in MW even (hence the topic split) but rather that the game itself is inherently complicated. That is definitely a valid critique but that doesnāt necessarily mean that the game is overly complicated, and might just mean that itās too complicated for your tastes, and thatās totally fine.
A lot of the issues you describe are also graphic design issues and not game design issues. IC can fix a lot of the confusion via UI modernization without having to sacrifice its complexity.
Some games are just more complicated. If itās not your cup of tea thatās fine, but that doesnāt mean other peoplesā preferences are any less valid than your own.
Going back to the map feature specifically (the original topic at hand), if you donāt like that feature, why not just avoid galaxies where it is enabled? Wouldnāt configurable galaxies give you exactly what youāre asking for here: a less complicated and more accessible version of the game to play?
Otten, IC had thousands of players with the limited map.
But with VIP features and IC Map Gen
which were added after IC already built a player base of1000s of players without vip feature sand map gen
remember this?
yes . i was so sick of sending fleets so truly didnt bother at the end
u played it well!
Iām all for fog of war. The darker the universe the better,
The problem in the past were the out-game map generators that gave an advantage to those that knew how to find and utilize them. The new in-game map features have taken it nearly to the extreme though nowadays. Really seems to be sucking the wind out of the CONFLICT part of the gameās title.
Which required VIP features, hence, it was a sort of pay-to-win.
Honestly @otteN⦠you know there was a time we simply had the choice who to crush. I made three times what number two made, and it wasnāt even you. You got to live.
@Hala . when was map gen a VIP feature? this was free download and u made sourcefile from the code⦠like u made yamaās etc⦠maybe my memory is rusty but as i can remembere drafting and draco was the only proās as a VIP⦠no?
@Airwing
There was definitely a time where you needed VIP to have the feature to be able to select and see systems families were in; then indeed you could use that in the free available MapGen tool. From this you could indeed extract the source file, and use that for mapgen.
ah yes to grab the yama ok.
Otherwise the source file is pretty useless right
Finding explorable planets on the map was also originally a VIP-only feature.
Yes, Map-Gen and other features were incorporated into VIP once that started, but it was originally created independently and hosted outside the game by others.
No, the Map Gen was a standalone, and free to use tool, created outside of the game.
You could maintain planetlists in there, calculate traveltimes etc.
However, to make it useful, you needed a VIP to grab source code files with interesting data from the map, like unexplored planets.
I think he means that map-gen style views were replicated in the new (at the time) map which had some VIP-only functionality.
I think you guys are both right; map-gen influenced VIP features and VIP features also made map-gen more useful.
