New player here. Read all I could find for first time players.
Questions: Can homeworld be attacked? Do I need to build lasers there?

Unless it is a hardcore galaxy, your homeworld can not be attacked by fleet (ops and spells are still fair game I think). Milky Way and Infinitum are NOT hardcore galaxies.

Your leader can list you as “Inactive” or “Rouge” and then your home world can be attacked and you would be out of the galaxy.
If you are playing in Infy - then you might be able to list yourself as such - and it could happen.
Likely no one has tested it yet.

In the current Test galaxy, I listed myself as Rogue at the start. Luckily I was able to rename myself the leader before anyone took a shot at my HW.
