Grudges are the worst part of IC y’all hold grudges like a bunch of pansies. This style will enforce it. Every round will have carry over from the next no fresh starts no happy beggings . Some people will like this Inger that. I myself who comes here for fun and get away for a distraction does not like that.
In my opinion the only way you can play a round and suceed with UA legal is to never nap any fams and farm them to zero as otherwise if you NAP someone they become protected by a broken honour system to come back and bite you in the ass later. Whilst working with 3rd party fams.
Even with market fixes and galactic council if you say UA is legal it wont work. I wont play another UA round as I don’t feel comfortable with the behaviour it drives.
In all my rounds of playing, I’ve held very few grudges from one round into another. None against an entirely family that I can recall. Two, maybe three, against individual players for various reasons. I’ve fought mortal enemies in MW then turned around and teamed up with them in a custom galaxy. Learned a lot about those players and developed new respect for them in those customs.
Admittedly the player roster is smaller nowadays so holding a grudge and acting upon it is easier than ever. That doesn’t make it a good thing.
The argument over IA vs UA is silly. IA is not enforceable, and in some cases it is more honorable as a player to break that rule. Suggesting that UA is death to the game makes no sense. It has always existed to some extent.
It has existed but when it was against the rules something was generally done about it. Now it is allowed there is nothing you can do about it.
This round what appears to happen is that any fam that is attacked by one of the 2 main alliances is recruited by by the other alliance in some format or another.
Those players that are “always together, forever - like beautiful swans” are so well known, now these chumps have to use draft slots to play with each other.
No more surprise backdoor shenanigans.
Everyone knows right from the start.
A Lot of these guys are going to…
Quit, because fair play is a motherfucker.
Delete their account every round (wont work - pretty easy to see that a person isn’t in their first round). And soon, a player’s chat name will be linked to their master account.
Have to fight for their ranks.
On a personal note:
I think this will breath new life into the game because new players will know them now too.
The “quitters” here are all (mostly) entrenched vets that know they are going to have to earn their ranks again.
Not my, nor all the new people that join every round’s fucking problem anymore.
Most people will adopt a clause that they will not play with an obvious vet that has a week old account.
At the very least we won’t have them running to the forums and bitching they got removed.
No one will give a shit about them anymore.
Well said Flip !!
It’s not just grudges!
The perma friendships are just as pansy / stupid.
With hiding gone for real, that BS will dry up in a round or two as well.
Deffy a tacit that an exceedingly active family will likely eploy.
Is that really any different than these hyper core, 10 share, 1 cancel war rounds anyway?
Couldn’t agree more.
I think most players know that is true, there is just some whining going on.
No hiding will cure a lot of the issues they are seeing.
Even chill ass Pie agreed that when hidden he became a different player.
@Tezcatlipoca made an interesting point in another thread that people may be unhappy with UA because of what their MW68 actions might mean for them in MW69.
This is only one aspect of UA, but if it’s even a little bit true, then UA is already proving effective as a means for players to reconsider how they treat each other. This ups the diplomacy game in a big way.
MW68 was definitely messy, but I’m curious to see how MW69 compares once we’ve had a full round of catharsis under our belts, complete with the reflection that comes afterward.
I’m going to put my cynical hat on for a moment and offer my prediction for MW69 right now…
Less players
More NAP breaks
More expo phase raids
Lots more grudges
I hope I am wrong
However, recent activities did get me thinking that the limit on in-game NAPs should be removed again so that any/all NAPs can be signed officially with no excuses.
Unofficial NAPs create fear, doubt and uncertainty and are prone to subjectivity. Inevitably, unless they are willingly honoured by both sides they can contribute to dishonourable actions that lead to grudge matches and questionable vengeful actions over multiple rounds.
I think when people step back and look back at this round they will realise it was pretty fun. LOTS of action from the get go, then a stale couple of week to catch breaths. Then bang, more action. I know I am personally devestated I wasn’t an attacker myself this round and could join in more.
I’ve never seen forums this active since the golden age, which is only a good thing. Even with the low amount of members.
I think this round will be known as MilkyWay:Purge edition (like the films). Once everybody has got “it” out of thier systems we can progress to implement new systems and make the game better.
The onus is on the players to make it happen and not Pie. I’m sure naps will now all be ingame, limits on alliance sizes, and third party aiding and opping will be clauses added into naps among other things learnt.
A hell of a lot has been learnt from this round. Let’s use it for good.
